Competency-based interview

All candidates take part in a competency-based interview. This style of interviewing assesses skills, knowledge, behaviour and attributes. We’ll ask you several competency questions relating to the job you’re applying for. Each question looks for specific examples of how you have behaved in different situations in the past.

This type of interview also ensures that we ask all candidates the same questions; the interviews are all structured the same way, which ensures we treat all candidates fairly.

You’ll be expected to give recent examples of things you’ve done, not your team mates. So think of a range of different examples that you could tell us about in the interview. A typical question we may ask you is, ‘Could you tell us about a time you resolved a customer complaint?’ Your answer would help us measure your customer focus.

It’s important that you present yourself in a professional manner. Be enthusiastic about the job you’re applying for. Just be yourself at the interview and try to relax, as this always comes across well.

At the end of the competency questions, you’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions about the job, the benefits or the company. Remember that the interview is a good time for you to find out more about us too!
